2001 Mandatory Dues Campaign Successful ! The Innis Arden Community wishes to express our appreciation and congratulations to the committee who successfully gathered the signatures necessary to make mandatory dues a reality for Innis Arden. "It was the right thing to do." Due to months of persistent effort, and encouragement by signing Innis Arden shareholders, the task was accomplished when the Board certified the signatures and Judy Allen filed them with King County on August 13, 2001. Effective January 1, 2002, Community Club dues will be mandatory for property owners in Innis Arden. The committee, chaired by Judy Allen, included Ewa Sledziewski, Loys Lamb, El and Elaine Burgwald, C.O. Causey, June Howard, Diane Geary, Chuck and Bonnie Jardine, Chris Kocher,Tony Morales, Kathy Malarky, Craig and Judy Runions, Jim Shea, Pam Smit, Carol Solle, and Jean Stewart. Notaries who donated their services included June Howard, John John, Gary Kocher, Roger Lageschulte, Don Mallet, Ricki Vadset and Cathy Shea. By
showing their willingness to carry their fair share of the financial
responsibilities of the Community Club, shareholders have given encouragement
to the Board and committees to move forward to improve our community.
Residents are encouraged to get involved by coming to Board meetings
with their input, by serving on committees and special projects and
by attending Community Club events to get to know their neighbors
better. Paying your dues is only a part of making Innis Arden a great
place to live. Innis
Arden to Hold Town Meetings Purpose: To develop a Community Designed Survey for collecting information about what homeowners value and to provide direction for our Board of Directors Why Attend: Now that the mandatory dues amendment has passed, it is more important than ever that the community provide input and direction to its Board of Directors. How do you want your money spent and what are your priorities for community development; Reserves, Views, Security, Traffic Control, Grounds, Facilities, Vegetation Management? Meeting Design: You will have a structured opportunity to meet others who think the way you do, to listen to different views, to develop the scope and design of the survey questions and to have a constructive voice in your community affairs. A self-selected group of participants will eventually meet with a recognized professional consultant to develop the final set of survey questions to be sent to Innis Arden residents. What to Bring: Strong Ideas, a well thought out request for action (not a complaint), your spouse and neighbors, pencil and paper. What if I don't attend: It will be a missed opportunity to contribute. Let your ideas be known to a person who is planning on attending. Each meeting will build on the previous one, so put them all on your calendar. Subsequent meetings will be scheduled as required with announcements in future Bulletins. Revised Building and Remodel Policy At the September 4th Board Meeting, a revised Building and Remodel Policy Statement was adopted. The Board will now evaluate covenant compliance as a consideration for building and remodel approval. Included in this consideration is the Tree Height Amendment. This means that neighbors have the opportunity to not only review the remodel plans, but covenant and tree height issues. Have you been troubled by speeding in our neighborhood? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately
Concerned Innis Arden residents should register their complaints with the City of Shoreline in two ways.
If you would like to learn more about the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program, contact Michael Rasch at 542-1230. In June 2001, the Innis Arden Board submitted a plan to the City of Shoreline for the management of Grouse Reserve. On August 2nd, the City responded in a letter from Paul Cohen. Arborists hired by the Grouse Reserve Neighborhood Association are currently preparing a response to the City, to be completed within a few weeks. During the September 2001 Board Meeting, a motion was passed to put the City’s letter on the Web site. It can be found at http://www.innisarden.com/board/grousecity.html. After the Board Meeting, a motion was passed to post the original plan submitted to the City as well. It will be at http://www.innisarden.com/board/grouseclub.html as soon as possible.
